Andaleeve Rahman Partho is a famous Bangladeshi politician and the president of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party. He is a former member of Parliament from the constituency Bhola-1. Currently, he has been running a law school in Dhaka named the British School of Law. He is widely notable for his relationship with the Sheikh family where his mother Sheikh Reba Rahman was the niece of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and sister of Sheikh Fazlul Karim.

I wanted to share an event of unprecedented nature showing the apathy and indifference of the bureaucracy towards service and duty to and responsibility for the people of Bangladesh living abroad! My son, Asif Iqbal, an ex-cadet, one out of top 20 brilliant boys among 250000 boys and girls in the combined merit list of SSC Exam. having been awarded 100% scholarship by the University of Minnesota USA had left the country to pursue higher education in the USA. His plane fare too was reimbursed by the BD-Govt. from the Swiss grant. Did double major in Math. & C.S. with Hons. And Master in C.S. scoring enviable 3.9 CGPA in the 4-scale. At present serving as the principal software engineer in a 500-fortune company. He applied for dual nationality certificate on 11/25/2021(US) 25/11/2021(BD) thru BD-Embassy Washington D, C. duly with requisite fees. The Embassy (First Secy. Mr. Abdul Hye Milton in the passport, visa wing) had sent the application package on February 09, 2022, to MS. Kaniz Fatema sr. astt. secy. security services divn. MOHA (Ministry of home affairs) as usually packed in the diplomatic bag. Now the MOHA security services division (MS Kaniz Fatema) says the application package has not been received by them as yet. (Until 11/3/2022) On our query about, the chancery wing of the Embassy sent the copy of the covering letter addressed to the sr. astt. secy. security services division, where Asif’s name sits on the top, to vindicate their position. Then, when we asked for alleged non-receipt, showing a copy of the letter, the security services division went conspicuously incommunicado. Under this terrible situation I decided to bring it to your notice for relief and redress, knowing you as an erudite public representative, a legal icon and last but not the least an extended relation of ours! ( It’s no gainsaying Dolly bu, Janu bu, era amar wife-er apon khalato sisters. Proyato Naser dola bhai incidentally amake khuuuub sneho korten. Bangabandhu, erstwhile Sheikh Saheb, a minister in the then provincial government, I heard from my father-in-law, (a doctor), often used to frequent their Mog bazar kazi office lane house. Dolly bu and Naser dola bhai more often then not used to come and stay for days together at the bind and love of my mother-in-law; because Dolly bu had lost her mother in her very infancy and my mother in law reared and cared her like mother. Alas! Gone are those golden days of yester years! Ami (Me & my wife) last Khulna visit korechilam immediately after liberation, tokhon apanar father-in-law, Mr, Sheikh Helal was mere a child. I had a taste and treat of deer meat & share the same tent with dola bhai, pitched upon totally destroyed homestead. Endless stories of nostalgic reminiscence. Aj Dolly bu o nei Janu bu o nei……….full of pain and pathos incredibly true and sadly unknown and unsung!
I retired from the Janata bank in 1999 normally at the end of my tenure as general manager, when banks were not transformed into holding company, so my promotion & retirement was gazetted. Asif being our only child, we can’t but live with him for care, love and the last rites. I have been a free lancer for decades, having contributed to the Daily Star, DK and now continue to do to The New York Times.
