In addition, he took a hat-trick for Abahani Limited in the 2016-17 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. He was named in the squad for the Sylhet Sixers in the BPL 2018. Afif was also named for a training camp ahead of Bangladesh’s 2019-20 season.
In the U-19 team, he was the vice president for the 2016 Asia Cup. Later he scored the highest run in the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. The International Cricket Council (ICC) named him as the rising star for the squad. In 2018, he was named for 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
Afif Hossain made his debut in the international cricket against Sri Lanka in the first T20 match, but he was not so much success and dropped from the next match in this tour. After nearly a year waiting, he got chance for 2019–20 Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series.
