Omar Faruk Chowdhury kicked off the political journey as a Sramik League leader in Chittagong. He changed political ideology to Jubo Sanghoti, a youth wing of the Jatiya Party when Hussain Muhammad Ershad comes to power. Faruk made a handsome economical position doing the politics of the Jatiya Party.
His business began to decrease after the fall of Ershad government and he left the politics for a few years. In 1992, he again joined Bangladesh Awami League. Then Faruk became the chairman of the Jubo League in 2012.
